About the Project:
Overview: A fictional marketing agency, 'The Donnelly Group', identified a need to create a health and wellness program for their employees.
Yearly employee surveys reported high levels of stress and overall burn out among employees. HR reported an increase in staff sick days as well.
The Donnelly Group believed that in offering a health and wellness program, employees would have the tools to better their overall physical, mental, and emotional health, leading to lower levels of health issues, a decrease in the number of sick days taken, as well as allow for a return to greater overall productivity for employees.
Analysis: Upon reviewing data, it was decided that one of the topics employees would benefit most from was 'Sleep for Better Health.' This was to be delivered in an eLearning module that could be completed on any device.
This module was outlined simply with Microsoft OneNote. This allowed me to create a basic outline for the course, as well as map out learning objectives for each section to allow for focused course creation.
Design: The design document was created with Google Docs. During this process, data from surveys was analyzed. The target audience was identified and learner personas were created. Goals and objectives were focused and assessments were created based on the objectives. Other methods of evaluation were included. Our deliverables and method of delivery was decided on and the complete scope of the project and goals was outlined.
Design Models Used: ADDIE, Gagne's 9 Events, Kirkpatrick's Four Levels, Bloom's Taxonomy
The 60-Day Sleep Plan was created using Canva. This Sleep Plan acts as the final assessment for learners as a way to gauge better health through better sleep.
Canva was also used to source and edit graphics throughout the course, and create The Donnelly Group logos and branding.
Development: Evolve was chosen to develop this eLearning course. The ease of both access and use made this ideal for the audience. Learners could access this course on any device.
No branching scenarios were necessary making this an ideal tool.
Implementation, Evaluation, and Takeaways: Because this course was created for a fictional company, I was not able to implement or evaluate the learning on a company-wide scale.
I did, however, learn a lot in this process:
Being my first time working with Evolve, of course I wanted to use all of the 'bells and whistles.' After peer feedback I refocused each activity so that it had purpose for the learner and stayed laser focused on each learning objective.
If this course had not been created for my portfolio, I would have set up triggers to hide access to the assessment pieces, such as the multiple-choice questions and the link to download the Sleep Plan.
Evolve has many options for learner interaction. If I were to redo this course, I would include the use of the 'Branching Scenario' feature to have the learner make choices throughout their day to set themselves up for better sleep. I would also use the 'Dialogue' feature to deliver a chunk of the learning.
Evolve has a bit of a learning curve, but I found it to be a very customizable, flexible tool, that I really enjoyed working with. The more I use it, the more reasons I can think to use it!
